Sunday evening at Reliant Stadium

I've watched two college football games so far this season.

Well…that isn't strictly accurate.

On Thursday, Utah and Texas A&M played football, but it wasn't a game.

On Sunday, Houston and Rice played a game, but it wasn't football.

Whatever sport it was, Rice walked away with a 10-7 victory (Houston's lone TD came with nine seconds left in the game). Rice was well-prepared, well-coached and played hard. I suspect the Cougars took a win for granted, and were looking ahead to the Oklahoma and Miami games.

For all the good Houston's offensive line did, the team would have been better off with nine wideouts and a center on every play. Plus, when Cougar quarterback Kevin Kolb threw a good pass, the receiver dropped it; but when a receiver was wide open, Kolb missed him. A painfully sloppy game for the Coogs.

That Oklahoma game next week is going to be ugly…
