Seen today on Southeast 33rd Avenue: A teenage boy walking about half a block ahead of a teenage girl running. And he's smiling because she's running after him. And she's smiling because she's about to catch him.

Finished 4th out of 28 in Jack Bogdanski's pool. My only regret is not picking Germany to beat Argentina. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I picked Argentina to win it all.

Seen this evening at the corner of Southeast 33rd and Stark: A sign advertising a nearby garage sale, next to a kitchen sink with a price tag on it. No "everything but" for these folks...

It was a beautiful evening for a fair-skinned person in a long-sleeved shirt to be outside – overcast and in the 60s – so I walked home from work: MLK to Hancock to 33rd to Alder. About three-and-a-half miles. I had never walked through Irvington before. Pretty

A beautiful day: Highs in the 70s, and sun, sun, sun. I took a stroll in Laurelhurst Park this evening. When I walk down the asphalt path that parallels Oak Street, I like to look up through the tall trees and focus on the shifting patterns the green foliage makes

A year ago, I was sitting in a motel room in Ogden, Utah, on my way from Houston to Portland. I turned on the television, flipped to the sports channels, and started watching a program on the Deuce about a basketball team called And1 that travelled from city to city,
