An e-mail to Fox News: "Former Congressman Mark Foley (D-FL)" Until this incident, I had questioned your standards and biases but believed that Fox News was basically a news organization. I can't believe that now. /s/ Steve Casburn

On my days off, I have been getting up at dawn and walking/jogging laps at Laurelhurst Park. Each lap is about five-sixths of a mile, and I move counter-clockwise, so the long straightaways are generally downhill and the relatively steep climbs are all uphill (the highest points
Intellect
We can learn a great deal about something without learning of something; we can perceive the outline with remarkable clarity without perceiving the essence; we can see how a thing is seen without feeling how that thing is felt. Maybe Fox News knows something about liberals. Maybe atheists know something
Me
For about five years now, I have been intermittently weaning myself from caffeine. I started again last week. When non-caffeinated, I feel much more awake and alert for the first two hours of the day, but then more sleepy and dim for the rest of it. The non-caffeinated

Food
Next time you're downtown for lunch, give La Terrazza a try. Like all downtown restaurants, it's a little pricey, but at La Terrazza you actually get what you pay for. (Update: The sign out front says "La Capanna", but Google Maps still calls it
Remarks
Charles Mackay finds an analogy for the life of John Law during the Mississippi scheme: His fate was like that which may be supposed to have overtaken the first adventurous boatman who rowed from Erie to Ontario. Broad and smooth was the river on which he embarked; rapid and pleasant
TV / Film / Radio
Perfect film for a hot summer night: Slow-paced and comfortable. I enjoyed it, though I still don't understand the last scene.
